Katherine Zinner Cimaglio

At the age of 5, Katherine discovered an interest in drawing while watching an art student-neighbor sketch portraits. She pursued her interest in undergraduate college art courses and private classes in Washington, DC. While residing in Boston, her work caught the eye of a local gallery owner which resulted in her first invitation to show. A brief stint at the Chicago Historical Society gained her skills in fabric art design & display techniques. Her technical drawing skills were honed through college course work related to her archaeology studies where she applied her drawing skills to site renderings and sketches at archaeology excavations.

Her love of history is often present in her paintings. Historic buildings, quaint rural settings and architectural details are frequent subjects in her work. She lives in a rural area, rich in history and often works from the many reference photos she has taken near her home. Her large paintings are done in acrylic , a medium which translates easily to miniature works as well. And, while she only recently began painting miniatures, her work has drawn much attention and is held in private collections across the country.
Katherine works as a free lance painter and exhibits her work at her studio, art fairs, galleries, and on her website. She accepts commissions and works out of her studio in West Virginia.

“Art has been a gift to me, so I want people to look into my paintings rather than look at them...to sense my enthusiasm and not infrequently, the humor in my work. I believe that art should leave the viewer refreshed and renewed. If my work evokes a smile from the viewer, then I have succeeded as an artist.”
